Hello!

mosaic
Hello everyone.
Yes, things have been VERY quiet on the site lately. Too quiet. With regards to the house, there has been little progress. With regards to myself, we’ve had a stressful time lately with some major health issues but hopefully I am on the mend.
So, what has prompted me to post? Well, A Home For All Seasons is hitting the Steiner School Winter Fayre tomorrow (sorry for lack of notice!). The above picture shows just a few of our selected items we will be taking along and we have plenty more in line to stock our online shop which will open in the new year (what a wonderful way to start a new year I think). However, if you popped along and saw something that caught your eye and came here looking to order one then just drop us an email and I’ll get it out to you.
Looking forward to seeing some of you there.
Love C x

Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair

maingraphic

Having used most of my annual leave on our honeymoon adventure I have to be particularly choosy as to how I use my remaining allocation. I am, of course, keeping a lot of it for working on the house. But, a girl needs a treat every now and then.

So, with that in mind, I will be hopping on a train for Manchester next weekend for a day of crafty indulgence at the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair.

The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair provides a unique shopping experience and an excellent opportunity to see and buy the latest works in jewellery, interior textiles, fashion accessories, ceramics, glass, silver, wood, furniture, paper and more from 140 of the most talented designer-makers in the UK.

National Chocolate Week

Chocolate Cheesecake

Well, if you ask me, there really is no need for Chocolate Week at A Home For All Seasons as we seem to celebrate, or at least consume, the lovely stuff on an almost daily basis.

Because of this shocking lack of self-discipline and regard for our general health we are cutting down – drastically! So, what better time to have one final blowout? On Sunday we will be eating our last chocolate item of 2009! It has to be something amazingly scrumptious and we want your suggestions/recipes.

For more choccy goodness and ideas visit http://chocolate-week.co.uk/ . Or pop on over to the lovely Domestic Sluttery website who will have a chocolate giveaway every day this week!

World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Feelgood!TheWorldsBiggestCoffeeMorning2009

I for one, as you may have noticed from the posts so far this month, rarely need an excuse to settle down with a nice cuppa and a slice of cake. However, this month there is a perfect reason to indulge.

September 25th is when Macmillan Cancer Care hope to set the world record for the world’s biggest coffee morning. The aim of the event is to raise a much-needed £8m for the charity. It can be as simple as charging a small fee for some home baked cakes on your tea break at work or a full blown event. Every penny counts.

Cupcake Craziness

Cupcake Glasgow

Cupcake in Glasgow's Merchant City

I have to admit that I’m not as fanatical about cupcakes as everyone else seems to be these days. (It’s probably because I’m so greedy and there’s just not enough cake there but who’s to say you can’t have more than one!)

Surprisingly, I’ve yet to try out the recently opened Cupcake here in Glasgow (especially surprising given it’s about 2 minutes from our flat) but I have feasted upon the gorgeous new cupcake range in Marks & Spencer’s and heartily recommend the Carrot Cake variety.

They may be a little on the pricy side, but you can always make your own (see our recent recipe for some basic chocolate ones) and, if you really need the excuse, you can do it to celebrate National Cupcake Week which runs from September 14th – 20th

Team Green Britain

teamgreenbritain

The ideals surrounding the Team Green Britain are splendid ones and very much those that A Home For All Seasons are more than happy to spread. Unfortunately, I’m not so keen on the fact that London was chosen for the 2012 games (but we’ll sweep that under the rug shall we).

Team Green Britain is looking for anyone interested in helping Britain lead the race against climate change to join up. As a team member, you’ll get all the practical support, information and advice you need about living a greener life.

The date to remember is 10 July, the first Green Britain Day, an opportunity to get together, have fun, and begin our journey towards a lower carbon future.

There are a number of different intiatives to sign up to. Find out more at the Team Green Britain website: http://www.teamgreenbritain.org

Lakeland Sale

birdie-pegsI’m pleased to announce that the wonderful Lakeland are currently having a great summer sale. Packed full of innovative kitchen gadegts, garden supplies and a host of big brand names such as Cole & Mason, Simplehuman, Lock & Lock, Kenwood and Typhoon.

Personally one of my favourite items in this season’s sale has to be these cute birdie pegs which are reduced from £2.95 to 99p.

Cath Kidson Sale

cath-kidson-bed-linen

Summer has landed and with it comes sale season. There may be daily news items about economic meltdown, but everyone still loves a bargain and the good news for lovers of pretty pastel florals and kitch kitchenware is that Cath Kidson are jumping on the sale bandwagon too.

Remember that if the fabric is a little too pricy, check out the bedlinen for some great prints – our favourite is the cute circus elephant pillow case.
